After You Vote — Confirm Your Ballot

Voting doesn't end when you leave the booth or drop your ballot in the mail. Every voter has the right to verify their vote was received and counted. Here's how:

  1. Check your state's ballot tracker. Most states offer a free online tool to confirm your absentee or mail-in ballot was received. Visit your state's voting guide above for a direct link to your Secretary of State's elections portal.
  2. Verify your registration stayed active. Use CanIVote.org or Vote.org/verify to confirm your registration status hasn't changed after you voted.
  3. Track your mail-in ballot with USPS. If you voted by mail, USPS Informed Delivery can help you confirm your ballot envelope was picked up and is in transit.
  4. Keep your provisional ballot receipt. If you were given a provisional ballot on Election Day, you should have received a receipt with instructions on how to check whether it was counted. Most states provide a lookup tool on their elections website within 7–10 days.
  5. Review certified results. After your state certifies its election, you can verify final vote totals through your state's official elections website or the Election Assistance Commission.
