Frequently Asked Questions

What data is shown on the dashboard?

The dashboard displays population, median age, household income, poverty rate, unemployment, insurance coverage, homeownership, and home value. Detailed breakdowns cover age distribution, race & ethnicity, education, income brackets, occupation, industry, housing tenure, and commute mode. For broader state-level figures, see our state census data page.

Can I compare two districts?

Yes. After viewing one district's dashboard, click "Compare with another district" to add a second. Charts display grouped bars and stat cards show the difference between the two districts. You can also compare at the state level on the Census page.

Where does the data come from?

All data is sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates, aggregated to U.S. House congressional districts. To see who represents each district and how they vote, visit Find Your Representatives.

Why is some data missing or showing N/A?

Some districts have limited data for certain metrics due to Census Bureau suppression rules for small populations. If a value shows N/A, it means the data was not available for that district.

Can I download or share a chart?

Right-click (or long-press on mobile) any chart and select "Save image as..." to download a copy.

How do I change the district?

Use the ZIP code lookup or select a State and District from the form, then click "Explore District."
